Subsea Tieback Foundation Supports Industry Transformation
While Subsea Tieback (SSTB) brings industry together to “Transform the Competitive Landscape,”
the Subsea Tieback Foundation (STF) brings students to industry to support the transformation.
The mission of the STF is to inform, educate and introduce careers in the oil and gas industry
specific to offshore and subsea disciplines. This is accomplished with student scholarships and
sponsorships, presentations, demonstrations, education and mentorship.
In past years, the STF has sponsored the attendance of over 150 college students to the SSTB,
which has included dinners, presentations from industry leaders and guided tours of the exhibit
hall. It has also provided an opportunity for students to display and share the results of their
sponsored senior design projects, and resumes with industry professionals.
This year, the STF together with the support of the SUT are in the process of organizing its second
Subsea Project using the SEATIGER ROV. What is most exciting is that this year’s event will be
planned by the TAMU SUT Student Chapter and executed by a number or area High School
teams. In addition to being a great deal of fun and entertainment for the college students, it will
provide them with an opportunity to learn from industry mentors and share their passions with
students that will someday follow their path. Keep an eye out for more details on the event and
how to volunteer and participate.
