THE FIRST OF YOUR KIND IN AN OIL EXPORTING COUNTRY
Antonio Villaluenga, Foster Wheeler Upstream
The Perla feld is located offshore west Venezuela, in the Gulf of Venezuela. The feld is part of the Rafael
Urdaneta project. Even if Venezuela is one of the main oil and gas producers in the world, the expertise
related to develop offshore project is limited to either fresh water or very shallow waters. Cardon IV in
conjuction with Foster Wheeler Upstream worked in the development of the best concept to develop the
feld considering the limitations in infrastructure, local experience, and national capabilities.
Antonio Villaluenga is a Project Manager working with Foster Wheeler Upstream with more than 20 years of
experience in the consulting area. He has been involved in projects related to the mining and metals, environmental
and oil and gas sectors, either through as Business Development Manager, Project Manager or General Manager in
several countries in the Americas. Since 2010 he has worked as Project Manager for the Perla Field Early Production
Development in Venezuela, during the FEED and Project Management phases.

Since startup in 2010, Perdido has faced signifcant hurdles on its way to reaching nameplate capacity.
Overcoming unique design challenges has brought the platform to its place today, as one of the leaders
in innovation and production in the Gulf of Mexico.
Susan Lajeunesse is a Facility Surveillance Engineer at shell and supported the Perdido production platform through
the start-up and frst three years of production.
