Over the last decade, LEDs market standing in terms of effcacy, cost (lm/$) and color consistency has been increasing at a
pace no one predicted. To deliver improved effcacy and greater color consistency without any signifcant increase in cost is the
most formidable challenge faced by every LED maker today. While the LED industry has been successful in responding to such
market demands, the real challenges lie ahead of us. This presentation will review the technical achievements that have enabled
LED lighting’s strong current market status. It will also discuss the technical barriers that have to be overcome to continue the
remarkable growth of the LED industry.
Dr. Oh has been Senior VP at Samsung Electronics since 2012. He was VP of Samsung LED for Manufacturing and also head
of the LED Business Development Team. He joined Samsung Electro-Mechnics (SEMCO) after he received his PhD from Korea
Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Material Engineering in 1995.
